There was no shortage of excitement at Absolutely Karting in Maidenhead when former Formula 1 driver and top motorsport broadcaster Karun Chandhok took to the track for a special book signing event.
A pit stop with a purpose
Karun, a familiar face to Formula 1 fans from his expert analysis on the BBC, Channel 4 and currently Sky Sports, was on hand to sign copies of his latest children’s book, Drive to Victory: Incredible True Stories from the Fastest Sport in the World. A must-read for budding young racing enthusiasts, the book is packed with thrilling stories, behind-the-scenes insights and legendary moments from motorsport’s greatest stars, including Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton.
During his visit, Karun took time to chat with young fans, sharing stories from his racing career and answering their F1 questions. But it wasn’t just about books and autographs – the kids also had the chance to take a spin in our karts.
Reflecting on the day, Karun said:
“It was nice to pop down to Absolutely Karting during half term. I have written Drive to Victory to try and educate the younger fans about the sport, and it was lovely to see the kids have a go on the kart track and then chat about the book. Formula 1 is the most complex sport on the planet with a rich history, and I have tried to break down the complexities of the sport while highlighting the great teams and drivers of the past and present – so hopefully they will enjoy reading it!”
